How every piece is authenticated
Authentication is mandatory and never skipped. Before any funds move, every piece is examined in hand by our specialists — independently of the seller — so both sides transact with certainty.
Hallmark & serial verification
We read the piece the way the maison made it — assay marks, maker’s marks, metal stamps and serial numbers — and cross-check them against how genuine Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Chanel and Dior pieces are actually marked. Inconsistent fonts, spacing or serial formats are among the first tells of a reproduction.
Metal analysis (XRF)
Non-destructive X-ray fluorescence confirms the precious-metal content — that a piece stamped 750 is genuinely 18-karat gold, or that platinum is platinum. It is an objective measurement, not an opinion, and it catches plated or under-karated fakes that look right to the eye.
Gemmological review
Diamonds and coloured stones are examined for their characteristics and, where relevant, checked against accompanying reports. We look for stone swaps, later replacements and treatments that a photograph would never reveal.
Why independent authentication matters
Because we are neutral — never the seller — our finding is impartial. The most sought-after motifs are also the most counterfeited, so a piece proven genuine in hand protects the buyer from a costly mistake and lets the seller command its true worth without argument.
Every examination is documented, and the piece stays in our custody throughout — released for delivery only once it is proven genuine and payment is confirmed.
